Why We Are Called Through The Roof

Mark 2:1-12 tells a story of friends carrying a man who was paralyzed being carried to be healed by Jesus.  When they came to the house where Jesus was, they could not enter in the door because there were so many people.  Instead they went on to the roof, dug a hole and lowered the man down through the roof to Jesus.  I love this story that shows creativity and healing.  It demonstrates that sometimes we need to lead people to Christ.  It teaches us that loving your neighbor is a verb.  It grants accessibility to people who are differently abled.  As a result, Through the Roof has become the name of our ministry for individuals with special needs.  It is a ministry to care for the spiritual needs of people with disabilities.   It is a ministry where God's love reaches beyond the walls of the church into the community.
